Kasargod: Retired crime branch SI found hanging at residence

Kasargod, Jul 27, 2026: Retired Crime Branch Sub-Inspector Dhan Raj (65), who was instrumental in solving several major criminal cases during his service in Kasargod district, was found dead after allegedly hanging himself at his residence on Monday, July 27.

A native of Kannur and son of Muralidharan, Dhan Raj had settled at Parakkatte in Kasargod after his retirement from the police department. His body was discovered hanging inside his house on Monday morning.

The body was shifted to the Kasargod General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

During his police career, Dhan Raj served at several police stations across Kasargod district and earned a reputation as a skilled and dedicated investigating officer. He retired from the Kasargod Crime Branch after years of distinguished service.

Following his retirement, he worked as a security officer at a private hospital in Cherkala. According to sources, he resigned from the position about two months ago due to health-related issues.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
