Kasargod:Jarkhand man arrested for strangling relative to death

Kasargod, Feb 06, 2015: Police have arrested a person from Jarkhand in connection with the alleged murder of  one  Balakrishnan (37) hailing from Panathady Pandakkal here. Balakrishnan was found  strangled to death on the night of February 4, Wednesday.

The arrested person is identified as Shiva Khandewal (38). Sources said the two had quarrelled over a trivial issue under the influence of alcohol resulting in the murder of Balakrishnan in his  own house.

The accused Shiva  who has been residing in Kasargod since two years was also related to Balakrishna as the former had married the latter’s niece.

It is learnt the two had quarrelled over drinking water issue when Shiva in a fit of anger reportedly strangled Balakrishna with a nylon rope and fled the place.

The murder however went unnoticed until Shiva who returned to his house at night informed his wife about his act. Shiva was subsequently arrested. The deceased Balakrishnan was living a solitary life ever since he was separated from his wife and children.

Investigations are underway.
