Kasargod: Cops launch crackdown against stone pelting on trains; detain 50 people

Kasargod, Aug 22, 2023: Kasargod police who have launched a crackdown to prevent cases of pelting stones at moving trains have taken 50 persons into custody on August 22, Tuesday.

All those who were detained were found lurking suspiciously near railway tracks. Anyone found involved in disruptive act will be booked under provisions that attract imprisonment upto 10 years, police have said.


At several places police have installed CCTV cameras near tracks and have also kept an eye on people living in the vicinity of railway tracks. Additional police personnel have been deployed in trains.


It may be recalled here that over ten stone pelting incidents have been reported in the past one month period on the Kasargod-Kannur railway route.
