Kasaragod: Woman found dead under suspicious circumstances; case registered

Kasaragod, Oct 3, 2026: A 51-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence in Lenkinadka, Kudalu-Merka, within the limits of Kumbla police station.

The deceased has been identified as Savitha (51).

Savitha was found dead at her home on Saturday morning. The incident came to light after Chennappa, a native of Shivamogga in Karnataka who was living with her, informed neighbours.

Her body was found on a cot in the veranda of the house. Police noticed injury marks on her hands and legs, raising suspicion over the circumstances of her death.

On receiving the information, a police team led by Kumbla Police Station Inspector R.P. Anoop Krishna reached the spot and conducted an inspection.

Savitha and Chennappa had been living in a house constructed several years ago under the Life Mission housing scheme. Chennappa had reportedly been living with Savitha for the past 16 years.

The exact cause of death has not yet been ascertained. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The actual cause of death is expected to be established after the post-mortem examination report.
