Kasaragod: Woman arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting 16-year-old girl

Kasaragod, Aug. 7, 2026: A 25-year-old woman has been arrested by Melparamba police for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

The accused has been identified as Sneha Merlin, a resident of Pulliparamba village near Taliparamba in Kannur district.

Police said she was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act nearly one-and-a-half months after the alleged incident.

Following an investigation into the complaint, police took her into custody and subsequently produced her before a court. She was remanded in judicial custody, police said.
