Kasaragod Native becomes assistant to British King Charles III

Kasaragod, December 1, 2024: In a proud moment for India, Muna Shamsuddin, a native of Kasaragod, has been appointed Assistant Private Secretary to King Charles III.

Muna ShamsuddinMuna, a British diplomat, assumed this prestigious role last year while serving at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London. A graduate in Mathematics and Engineering from the University of Nottingham, she joined the British Foreign Services and has held key positions, including Consulate General in Jerusalem and Deputy Head of Mission in Karachi, Pakistan.

As part of her role, Muna oversees the official programs of King Charles and accompanies him on foreign trips. She lives in Britain with her husband, David, a UN official.

Muna is the daughter of the late Dr. Puthyapurayil Shamsuddin and Shahnaz of Talankara Theruvath. Her father, a prominent professional who worked across the US, UK and Saudi Arabia, eventually settled in Birmingham.
