Kasaragod: Ambulance overturns near Bandyod; patient dies, four injured

Kasaragod, Aug 26, 2026: A patient died and four others were injured after an ambulance lost control, crashed into a road divider and overturned on the National Highway near Bandyod late Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ashok, 41, a KSEB contractor from Uppala and a resident of Adka near Bandyod. His wife Prathibha, brother Rajesh, Rajesh’s wife and the ambulance driver were injured and admitted to a hospital in Kasaragod.

Ambulance overturn


Ashok had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Uppala for an illness. As his condition did not improve, he was being shifted by ambulance to a private hospital in Kasaragod for further treatment when the accident occurred near Bandyod.

Ashok, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, was initially taken to a hospital in Uppala and later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries despite treatment.

Ashok is survived by his wife and their only son, Tanoosh.
