Karnataka revises SSLC preparatory exam timetable to curb question paper leaks

Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, January 20, 2026: The Karnataka Department of School Education and Literacy has announced a revised timetable for the second SSLC preparatory examinations, aimed at preventing recurring incidents of question paper leaks that were reported during the first round held earlier this month.

As per the updated schedule, exams slated from January 27 to February 2 will begin at 11.00 am instead of the earlier 10.00 am start. However, students are required to report to their schools by 9.00 am. Schools have been directed to conduct regular classes for the first 90 minutes before switching to examination arrangements.

To strengthen the security of digital question papers, the department has put in place a strict protocol for school heads. Headmasters will be allowed to download the question papers only at 9.30 am through their official school portals. Printing must be completed by 10.00 am, and all materials should be ready in the examination halls by 10.50 am, thereby limiting the time available for any potential leaks.

The government has also enforced a zero-tolerance policy towards malpractice. In the event of a leak, immediate legal action, including the registration of FIRs, will be initiated. Responsibility has been fixed on school headmasters, Block Education Officers (BEOs) and Deputy Directors of Public Instruction (DDPIs). These steps are seen as crucial groundwork for the final SSLC board examinations scheduled to begin in March under the state’s ‘Mission 45’ initiative.
