Bengaluru, Oct 27, 2026: Karnataka’s final electoral rolls, scheduled to be published on Tuesday, will have 4.55 crore voters following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), marking a reduction of 99.32 lakh voters from the previous rolls.
Before the SIR exercise began, Karnataka had 5.54 crore registered voters. The revised rolls will have 2.29 crore women voters and 2.25 crore men voters, indicating a higher number of women voters in the state.
The SIR exercise in Karnataka began on June 30. Following house-to-house visits by booth-level officers (BLOs), more than one crore voters were placed on the Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) list.
In addition, 43.82 lakh notices were issued to voters over what the authorities described as “logical discrepancies” in their enumeration forms. The Election Commission has so far received 10.42 lakh Form 6 applications seeking inclusion of new voters in the electoral rolls.
The revision exercise has also triggered controversy over alleged attempts to remove voters in large numbers. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had claimed that 50 lakh Form 7 applications seeking the deletion of voters had been printed in Karnataka.
The Election Commission, however, said it had received 2.28 lakh Form 7 applications.
Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukkumar has maintained that not a single voter’s name had been deleted on the basis of these Form 7 applications.
