
Bengaluru, Aug 3, 2026: The long-awaited expansion of the Karnataka Cabinet will take place on Monday after the Congress high command approved the list of new ministers.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held at 4:05 pm at the Glass House premises of Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru.
The Congress party has announced a list of 20 ministers, including P.M. Narendraswamy, Shivaraj Tangadagi, Rudrappa Lamani, K.S. Basavanthappa, B. Nagendra, T. Raghumurthy, B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan, Rizwan Arshad, Santosh Lad, and Madhu Bangarappa, among others.
The Cabinet expansion follows extensive consultations held in New Delhi last week. The meeting was attended by Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC general secretaries K.C. Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president B.K. Hariprasad, and senior Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar.
The Congress leadership has also finalised key appointments in the State Legislature. Ron MLA G.S. Patil will be the new Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, while Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna will serve as the Deputy Speaker.
In the Legislative Council, senior MLC Saleem Ahmed has been chosen as the Chairperson, while actor-turned-MLC Umashree will assume the role of Deputy Chairperson.
