Karkala hotelier murdered in Pune after altercation with staff

Pune, Aug 27, 2025: A shocking incident unfolded in Pune on Tuesday night, August 26, when a hotel owner from Karkala was murdered following a dispute with a staff member.

The victim has been identified as Santosh Shetty (46), a native of Ennehole, Kumerumane in Karkala taluk.

Preliminary reports suggest that a staff member from Uttar Pradesh, allegedly intoxicated while on duty, was warned by Shetty. Infuriated, the staffer is said to have retrieved a knife from the kitchen and fatally attacked Shetty.

The incident occurred around 10 pm. Family sources confirmed that Shetty’s mortal remains are being taken to his hometown Ennehole for the last rites.
