Karkala: Six arrested in police raid on illegal gambling den at hotel

Karkala, Aug 4, 2026: Karkala Town Police raided an illegal gambling den operating inside a private hotel in Nitte village of Karkala taluk and arrested six persons.

Acting on credible information, the Karkala Town Police Sub-Inspector and his team conducted the raid. The arrested have been identified as Sujith, Abhimanyu, Mahesh, Dheeraj, Naresh Kumar, and Prashanth, who were allegedly found gambling at the premises.

Four other accused, identified as Yashodhara, Noor Mohammed, Ravi Shetty, and Satish, managed to escape from the spot.

During the operation, police seized ₹16,350 in cash, playing cards used for gambling, seven mobile phones worth ₹17,000, and furniture and other equipment used at the gambling spot, including chairs and accessories valued at around ₹10,500.

A case has been registered at the Karkala Town Police Station. The arrested were produced before the jurisdictional court, while police have launched a search to trace the absconding accused and the hotel owner.
