Karkala: Man from Attur convicted in murder case

Karkala, Sep 21, 2013:   A person from  Attur has been convicted  in a murder case by the Udupi District Court. The  Court which has pronounced the judgement has sentenced the convict to life imprisonment.

The convict is Veerendra Poojari (32) who was arrested in connection with the murder of Sandeep Kulal (30) at Nitte Adyarpadavu.  It is said that on April 23,2012, there arose a  quarrel between the  two during a wedding, over a sum of Rs 20,000 which Poojari had borrowed from  the chit fund run by one Santosh, who was the brother of Sandeep. Soon after, Poojari left home and arrived with a sharp weapon and eliminated Sandeep as soon as he was spotted near the local bus stand.

The Karkala rural police had registered a case. The court  in its judgement has also imposed a penalty of Rs 5000 on him.
