Mangaluru, July 27, 2025: The Dakshina Kannada district unit of the BJP observed Kargil Vijay Diwas on Saturday with a series of events honouring the sacrifices of Indian soldiers and highlighting the strength of the nation’s armed forces.
At the BJP district office in Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta paid tribute to India’s military legacy and emphasized the current government’s commitment to the armed forces. “India’s military prowess has always been a source of national pride. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian Army has been institutionally strengthened, equipped with modern technology, and treated with the respect it deserves,” he said. He also noted that the implementation of the ‘One Rank One Pension’ scheme fulfilled a long-standing demand of ex-servicemen.
Former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik described the Indian Army as the embodiment of national unity. “The army transcends barriers of caste, religion, and language, and upholds the spirit of Indianness,” he said.
On the occasion, three retired soldiers — Havaldar Ambrose D’Silva, Havaldar Vishwanath Shenoy, and Havaldar Raviram Shetty — were honoured for their service.
Homage at War Memorial
The BJP Yuva Morcha, Mangaluru City South block, paid floral tributes to the martyrs at the war memorial near Kadri Park. Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, addressing the gathering, said, “Kargil Vijay Diwas is a proud moment for every Indian, but it also reminds us of the pain of losing 527 brave soldiers in the war. Their courage and the sacrifices of their families must be remembered, and visiting war memorials with our children is one way to pass on this legacy.”
