
Mangaluru, Dec 21, 2025: As part of the Karavali Utsava celebrations, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H V on Sunday released tiger cubs from their cages into an enclosure for public viewing at Pilikula Biological Park.
The event also saw the naming and formal adoption of the tiger cubs. Diwakar Kadri, General Manager of Cardolite Specialty Chemicals, adopted two cubs and named the female “Tennyson” and the male “Oliver”.

Addressing the gathering, Darshan H V recalled his childhood memories and fondness for forests and wildlife, describing the tiger as his favourite wild animal. He expressed his desire to adopt a tiger cub in the future if given an opportunity.
Speaking on the occasion, Diwakar Kadri underlined the importance of understanding tiger behaviour to effectively manage human–wildlife conflict and said that tiger conservation is a collective responsibility.
Pilikula Development Authority Commissioner Dr Arun Kumar Shetty said continued support from conservation-minded individuals was vital for the efficient management and development of the Pilikula Development Authority and the biological park.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Narwade Vinayak Karbhari, Canara Bank General Manager Manjunath Singhai and others were present.
Meanwhile, a cake and wine festival was held at the Blue Flag beach at Tannirbavi as part of the Karavali Utsava celebrations.
