Kapu: Police seize two tipper lorries, excavator in illegal sand transport raid

Kapu, Sept 11, 2025: Shirva police seized two tipper lorries involved in illegal sand transportation during a raid on government land near Papanashini stream at Garadi Mane in Shirva village, Kapu taluk.

The raid was conducted following a tip-off about sand being illegally mined and transported with the help of a Hitachi excavator.

During the operation, police confiscated two sand-laden tipper lorries and an excavator from the spot. A case has been registered at Shirva Police Station.

The raid was carried out under the directions of Udupi District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, IPS, and the guidance of Additional SP Sudhakar S Naik, Karkala ASP Dr. Harsha Priyamvada, IPS, and Kapu Circle Inspector Jayashree Mane.
