Kaniyoor PU college student found dead in percolation pit

Kadaba, Sep 06, 2019:  In a suspected case of accidental drowning, the body of a 15 year old student  was found inside a percolation pit  near the Government Pre-University College at Kaniyoor on the night of September 5, Thursday.

 

 

The deceased has been identified as Gautham, a class X student of the same institution.

 It is suspected that he drowned after he ventured into the waters for a bath. Gautham was the son of Lakshman Gowda of Charvaka village.

A search was launched for Gautham after he did not return home in the evening.  When his shirt, trousers and footwear  were found near the pit, a  search was immediately launched in the water and his body was found. One of his eyes was found damaged.

 A wrist watch was also found in the area. The suspicion is that some others were also at the spot and might have fled on realising that Gautham had drowned.

 It is suspected that Gautham had ventured  into the water after the teachers’ day programme and students union inaugural at the college.
