Kadri fruit and flower exhibition open till Feb 23

Mangalore, Feb 20: The Horticulture Department, the Zilla Panchayat, the district administration, and Siri Horticulture Association have jointly organized the flower and fruit exhibition at Kadri Park. The event was inaugurated on Feb 19, Friday, by Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, the president of the Zilla Panchayat.

Watermelon carvings by Harish Kumar, an artist from Shimoga, are the chief attractions of the exhibition. Several vegetables were used to create images of APJ Abdul Kalaam, the former president of India; several Jananapeetha award winners of Karnataka; Kadri Lord Manjunatha; Lord Ganesh; and many more. 

 

 

MLA UT Khader, P Shivashankar, the chief executive officer of the ZP, Laxmi Rao Aroor, the vice president of the Siri Horticulture Association, H N Hema, the deputy director of the Horticulture Department; and officers of different departments were also present for the inauguration. A large number of people flocked to the venue to witness the spectacular displays. 

A wide variety of flowers and plants are exhibited in an attractive manner. Vegetables, especially grown for this purpose, are placed on display for the benefit of visitors. A special Rangoli by Kallacchu Publications to welcome the visitors and various other flowery welcome designs are the highlights of the event. 

 

 

 

 

 


A display on water conservation and usage of water resources also forms part of the event. Illustrative models by Jagadeesha Ammunje, the renowned artist, were used for this purpose.

In addition, a display of different varieties of cashews by the Ullal Cashew Research Centre, a pictorial display of several breeds of cows, and a display of medicinal plants by the forest department is also available. 

The exhibition is open to the public till Feb 23
