
Mangalore, Dec 4, 2011: The annual Kadri Kambala event commenced with the traditional ritual of honoring a pair of buffaloes on the morning of Dec 4 Sunday.
The ritual was conducted by the head of Kadri Kambala Guttu in the presence of Yogishwara Mutt Swamiji Mahantharasa Rajayogi Sandhyanathji.
The slush field race was held in 4 categories for men as well as women at 8:30 a.m. and was inaugurated by Ln. Kishore Rao.








The Vodafone Treasure Hunt and the Tappangayi competition will be held in the afternoon. The buffalo race will be held on categories such as Hagga Hiriya, Kane Halage, and Hagga Kiriya at noon. Gold medals will be presented to the winners.
DC Dr. Channappa Gowda inaugurated the tug of war, which commenced at 10:00 a.m., and the photography exhibition in the presence of Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat, B. Nagaraj Shetty, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of the DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishad, and others.
Proud owners from Talapady, Moodubidri, and Mundkur brought their buffalo pairs to the venue.
Each pair looked impressive and was decorated with tinsel and leaves and was welcomed with drum beats and music.
Kambala Samithi Convener Kadri Navneeth Shetty conducted the event.
