Kadaba: Elderly woman dies after being hit by bike on highway

Kadaba, Sep 2, 2026: An 81-year-old woman died after being knocked down by a motorcycle while standing by the roadside at Kalara near Kadaba on the Uppinangady–Kadaba–Subrahmanya State Highway.

The deceased has been identified as Varija, wife of late Krishnappa Bhandary and a resident of Perladakere in Kadaba village.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when Varija was standing by the roadside while waiting to cross the road. A motorcycle travelling from the Kadaba side reportedly hit her.

She sustained serious injuries and was initially shifted to a hospital in Puttur. She was later transferred to Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Tuesday.

Varija had neither a husband nor children. She had been living near her elder sister’s house at Perladakere and was cared for by her nephew Dhananjaya.
