
Belthangady, Oct 7, 2026: A KSRTC bus driver and conductor displayed promptness and humanity by diverting their bus to a nearby hospital after a woman passenger suddenly lost consciousness while travelling from Davanagere to Mangaluru on Monday evening.
The incident occurred around 4 pm on October 6 when the woman passenger suddenly collapsed inside the moving bus and was unable to speak or move. Fellow passengers immediately alerted the bus staff.

Recognising the seriousness of the situation, driver Kiran and conductor Santosh Sangappa Gowda acted swiftly. When the bus reached Kakkಿಂje in Belthangady taluk, they diverted it from the route and drove directly to Sri Krishna Hospital nearby, ensuring that the woman received immediate emergency medical attention.
Locals Ashraf Charmadi, Farooq Kakkinje and Naufal Kakkinje also came forward to assist the woman during the emergency.
The passenger was identified as Annapoorna, a resident of Balehonnur. She is currently undergoing treatment at Sri Krishna Hospital in Kakkinje and is responding to treatment and recovering, doctors said.
