KSIC launches 42nd silk showroom in Mangalore

Mangalore, Dec 20, 2011: M. D. Lakshminarayana, the former MLA and chairman of Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation Limited (KHDC), inaugurated the 42nd showroom of Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited (KSIC), called Priyadarshini, on KS Rao Road on Dec 20 Tuesday.

In his inaugural address, he said that KHDC has 54 showrooms across the nation and generates annual revenue of Rs. 150 crore, adding that the objective of KSIC and KHDC is to provide high quality silk products to the consumers of Karnataka.

The showroom displays elegant designer sarees, kasauti embroidery saris, plain printed saris, crepe de chine saris, along with silk shirts, ties, and scarves.

Philomen Raj, KSIC marketing manager, said that the company is trying to popularize its products in coastal Karnataka and has an impressive collection of silk products. Saris worth more than Rs. 2 lakh were also exhibited during the inauguration ceremony.

KSIC Chairman B. Vijayakumar, DC Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda, Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, KSIC MD G. Ramachandra, and KHDC MD Mohammed Mohsin were also present.
