
Mangalore, Jan 28, 2014: The activists of Karavali Jeevanadhi Nethravathi Rakshana Samithi staged a rail roko in front of Bangalore- Karwar Train at Mangalore Junction Railway station on Jan 28, Tuesday opposing the nethravathi river diversion.




Addressing the protestors, the committee activists said that the central and state government is trying to fool the people of coastal region by not giving the detailed report of the project consequences. They said that the committee activists and people of coastal region will never provide an opportunity for the river diversion.
Former MLA and committee leader Vijay Kumar Shetty said that the rail roko has been organized to draw the attention of Central Government, state government, Chief Minister and all the cabinet ministers who are taking the decision as per their wish without providing any information of the project to the people of coastal region.
If the government does not withdraw the proposed project, the committee will stage stringent protest in the coming days, he said.
Committee leaders P V Mohan, MG Hegde, Denis D’Silva, T K Sudhir, corporator Prakash, Ramanand Poojary, Suresh Shetty, Hemanth Garodi, Hussain Katipalla, Abdul Sattar, Jayakar Samarth and others were present.
