Joint Director of Udupi DIC trapped red handed by Lokayukta

Udupi, Feb 5, 2014: The Joint Director of the Udupi District Industries centre P Nagesh was trapped by Lokayukta sleuths in a raid on his office on February 4, Tuesday evening while he was accepting bribe from a person to approve his loan sanction.

Earlier, one Srikanth, a resident of Sacharipete in Karkala had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta alleging that the  Joint Director had placed forth a demand for a bribe of Rs 10,000 when he had approached the latter  with the money margin claim form to avail a subsidy of 35 per cent to the Rs 25 lakh loan he needed to set up a metal handicraft unit under the PMEGP Scheme.

The Lokayukta police led by DySP Umesh  arrested the officer while he was accepting bribe. Documents have also been seized by the Lokayukta sleuths.

He was produced before the Udupi District  and Sessions Judge BM Angadi on Tuesday night.
