
Mangalore, Jan 19: P. Jayaram Bhat, the managing director of Karnataka Bank, inaugurated the national conference titled “Role of Higher Education in Entrepreneurship Development in India” held at Ravindra Kala Bhavan of University College on Jan 19, Wednesday.





The conference was jointly organized by University College and Mangalore University. In his inaugural address, he said that the youth must be properly motivated, trained, and supported for entrepreneurship development in the country.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. T. C. Shivashankar Murthy, who presided over the event, said that entrepreneurship and education were hardly related in India in the past, but a connection has been established recently.
Stressing the need to produce quality education by expanding higher education, he said that arts students hardly have any practical experience, owing to which some practical courses should be designed for them.
Prof. Mathew J. Manimala of the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore delivered the keynote address.
