Imam of Hawwa Jumma Masjid at Bolangady Syed Yahya Thangal addressed the protestors and said that religion teaches peace and non violence and that those who support injustice will not receive the blessings of God. He urged for assistance to be rendered to those who suffer irrespective of caste and religion.

Sub-editor of Sanmarga Weekly Arafa Manchi asked if one cannot provide justice for Gregory Patrao by continuously protesting against the corrupt system. Pointing out the fact that the government is destroying the homes of thousands of people, he urged people to protest in the Gandhian manner.

MLA U. T. Khader said that the government policies have made the farmers helpless and alleged that the government spends more money on advertisements than on helping the poor. Khader said that “the resignation of Justice Santhosh Hegde is like a slap on the face of the BJP government and that it must apologize if it has any dignity left.”

Vice President of District Congress Committee Ivan D’Souza wondered how the government can give justice to Gregory Patrao when even Justice Santhosh Hegde is unwilling to continue in service. He disclosed that MLA U. T. Khader will raise the case of Gregory Patrao for discussion in the Legislative Assembly.

District President of JIH Youth Wing Mohammed Kunhi also addressed the protestors.
