Jain monk murder: Community members take out silent march; demand stern action against culprits

Mangaluru, July 10, 2023: Members of the Jain community under the aegis of Jain Milan, Mangaluru took out a silent march in the city on July 10, Monday demanding stern action against those responsible for the brutal murder of Jain monk Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj of Nandi Parvatha Ashram of Chikkody.

The silent march was taken out from Clock Tower to the DC office under the leadership of Dr Swastishree Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Panditacharyavarya Mahaswamiji of Moodbidri.

Jain community leaders Suresh Ballal, Pushparaj Jain, Sudarshan Jain, Ratnaker Jain and others were present.

The protestors also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.

Earlier, addressing the protestors, the Swamiji said the case must be thoroughly probed by appointing an able investigation officer. The incident has instilled fears in the community, he said and demanded suitable protection for all Jain monks and urged for measures to install CCTV cameras to Jain places of worship.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrangdal workers too participated in the protest.
