Mangalore, Dec 12, 2012:  KJP President and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has made it clear that his party would not go after RSS ideologies but will have its own set of ideologies.

Speaking to  the media at Circuit House in Mangalore on December 12, Wednesday, he said  he has formed the KJP with a view to build an egalitarian society free from the clutches of casteism. To a question if he would develop Karnataka on Modi lines, something which he had said while in power, Yeddyurappa said  from now on it is only Yeddyurappa model of development.

Strongly advocating the need for regional parties in the present political scenario of the nation, Yeddyurappa said no national party can come to power without the support of regional parties. “I had a vision of building a regional party since long and  have founded it at an opportune time,” he added.

He challenged the leadership in the state to  dissolve the   assembly and seek fresh mandate instead of serving show cause notices to BJP leaders who have identified themselves with the KJP.

He said his party would contest all the assembly seats in the state in the coming assembly elections. My party would select its candidates after  visiting all constituencies and taking local workers and leaders into confidence, he  asserted.

Yeddyurappa claimed that already 60 sitting MLAs  were by his side and added his party would give preference to youth, women and  minority community candidates.

Yeddyurappa said a committee has been constituted under the  leadership of Party Secretary K Srinivas and comprising eminent men like UR Ananthamurthi, Hampa Nagarajaiah, Mohandas Pai, Mumtaz Ali Khan, GN Hegde and Nallur Prasad  to recommend measures to build a better Karnataka. The KJP manifesto would  be prepared based on  the recommendations of the committee, he informed.

The KJP has been formed with the vision of building a new Karnataka, BSY said and added he along with party leaders would travel the length and breadth of the state in the coming days to strengthen the party. He declared that he would make Karnataka a model state.

Ramachandra Baikampady, Mariamma Thomas, Azeez Baikampady and others who recently joined the KJP were present.
