
Uppinangady, Jul 10, 2026: Police have arrested an interstate burglary suspect allegedly involved in 11 theft cases across Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada district and Kerala.
The accused has been identified as Jayakumar (55), a resident of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The police team arrested him on July 8 and seized an iron rod, a screwdriver, a bag and two mobile phones from his possession.
Police said the accused is linked to a series of burglaries that took place in Uppinangady and Belthangady in May this year. Cases had already been registered against him at Belthangady Police Station under Crime Nos. 58/2026, 59/2026 and 64/2026, and at Uppinangady Police Station under Crime Nos. 78/2026 and 79/2026.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that five cases had been registered against him in Dakshina Kannada district, one case under the jurisdiction of Surathkal Police Station in Mangaluru, four cases in different police stations in Kerala and one case in Bengaluru.
The operation to trace and arrest the accused was led by Belthangady Police Inspector Ravi B.S. and Uppinangady Police Sub-Inspector Nagaraj. The team included Sub-Inspectors Anand M., Sikandar Pasha and Sutesh K.P., crime detection staff of Belthangady Police Station including Pampapathi, Girish and Hemaraj H.P., Kadaba Police Station personnel Harshith and Prakash, and CDR division staff Sampath and Divakar.
