Interstate Burglars Arrested in ₹19.05 Lakh Theft at Congress Leader’s House

Padubidri, March 8, 2026: Police have arrested two interstate burglars in connection with a theft that took place in January at the residence of Congress leader Kapu Divakar Shetty.

The incident occurred when Divakar Shetty had travelled to Mumbai with his family. Taking advantage of their absence, the burglars broke open the door and entered the house located at Kothalkatte in Uliyaragoli village.

The accused allegedly stole valuables worth ₹19.05 lakh, including silver items from the prayer room, 30 grams of melted gold, a Rado watch and cash kept in the cupboard of the master bedroom.

Before leaving, the burglars reportedly changed the direction of the CCTV cameras and took away the DVR. A case was registered at the Kapu Police Station following the incident.

During the investigation, police arrested interstate burglar Esakki Raja (28) from Pattayam in Tirukurungudi, Tamil Nadu, along with his associate Nambi Raja (23). Efforts are underway to trace three other accused from Tamil Nadu and recover the stolen property. Police said cases have also been registered against the accused in various police stations in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Kapu Circle Inspector Azmath Ali G, the investigating officer in the case, along with Kapu PSI Tejaswi T.I. and Shubhakar. Police personnel Mohammed Rafiq, Narayan, Mohan Chandra and Raghu from Kapu Police Station; ASI Rajesh from Padubidri Police Station; Dayananda Prabhu and Anwar Ali from Shirva Police Station; and Kapu Circle Office staff Sharanappa, Jeevan, Jagadish, along with CDR section staff Dinesh and Nithin, took part in the operation.
