MCC

The suo moto case was filed on the basis of media reports and Deputy Lokayukta K N Phanindra has directed MCC and the KSPCB to file a report within 15 days.

The Deputy Lokayukta pointed out that the effluents released into the river not only affects marine species but also humans and animals.

It may be recalled here that the Environment Officer B R Ravi in a letter dated May 31 this year has asked the KSPCB Member Secretary to shut down the Patanjali Foods (Ruchi Soya Industries) that was found to be discharging its harazdous effluents into the river. However, the Board had not taken any measure based on the report.
