
Mangaluru, March 22, 2026: The Mangaluru Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), in association with Gili Vindu (R) of the SVP Institute of Kannada Studies, Mangalore University, will organise a special memorial lecture on Manjeshwar Govinda Pai on Monday, March 23, at 5:00 p.m.
The programme will be held at the Kodialguthu Centre for Art and Culture, located on G.G. Road, Ballalbagh. Art Kanara Trust is also associated with the event.

The lecture will be delivered by Prof. B. Shivarama Shetty, former professor at the SVP Institute of Kannada Studies. The programme aims to revisit the life and contributions of Govinda Pai, one of the most distinguished literary figures in Kannada.
Govinda Pai (1883–1963), who was conferred the title of “Rashtrakavi” in 1949, was a renowned poet, scholar and playwright. His notable works include Vaishakhi, Golgotha, Gili Vindu and Nandadeepa. A polyglot proficient in over 20 languages, his literary and scholarly contributions continue to hold enduring significance in Karnataka’s cultural and intellectual landscape.
