IMD issues orange alert for coastal Karnataka on July 29 as rains intensify

Udupi, Jul 29, 2026: The Pushya Nakshatra rains have intensified across coastal Karnataka, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an orange alert for the region.

The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of Karnataka, including the coastal districts, on July 29.

An orange alert has been issued for Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada, warning of intense rainfall and urging residents to remain cautious.
