House burgled at Konaje : Cash, gold worth over Rs 20 lakhs stolen

Mangaluru, Mar 25, 2021:      Thieves who broke into a house  belonging to Abid at Kodijal near the University campus at Konaje have decamped with gold ornaments weighing 700 grams apart from a cash of Rs 5 lakhs.

 

The theft reportedly took place  on March 24 Wednesday night. The gold and cash kept in the almirah in the bedroom were stolen. The empty bag has been discarded by the thieves outside the house.

The house owner Abid is an arecanut trader and had  kept cash pertaining to his business in his house. Sources said jewellery   from the bank locker  was also brought and kept in the house in view of a marriage in the house.  The value of the stolen gold is estimated at Rs 20 lakh.

Finger print experts and sniffer squad have been pressed into service.
