Hospital hands over body of a wrong person to Covid victim’s family

Karkala, May 18, 2021:      In a faux pas, the   staff of a private hospital on the outskirts of Mangaluru handed over the  body of a wrong person  to a   family from Karkala whose 44 year old  male member had succumbed to Covid infection in the  hospital.

 

The man hailing from Shringeri   had contracted Covid after he visited his wife’s house at Borkatte in Karkala  and had eventually succumbed after he failed to respond to treatment.

It was only when the family members took the body for cremation that they noticed that it was  the body of someone else. In fact a man from Hosabettu had died in the same hospital and his body was placed close by the body of the man from Karkala in the mortuary resulting in the   incident. Finally after the family members informed, the   body of the  deceased member of the family was handed over.
