Home Guard dies of barn worm bite after rescuing 6 children

Mulki, Nov 19, 2021: In a tragic incident a Home Guard lost his life after being bit by a barn worm near the Sri Rama Bhajana Mandir at Kinnigoli on November 17 after rescuing as many as six children who were bit by the worms.

 

The deceased is Santosh (35), a resident of Devaragudde near Kateel. He was a Home Guard attached to the Kankanady police station. On Wednesday evening when Santosh was travelling in an autorickshaw he saw that the barn worms had attacked a few students and had immediately shifted them to a private  hospital in Kinnigoli.

It is said  even Santosh was bit by the worms, but he had  returned home without getting any treatment. It is said  he died the same night while he was sitting on a chair.

 The deceased is survived by his wife and three children.
