Hindu outfits accuse cops of assaulting Bhajrangdal activist

Mangalore, Jan 28, 2014 :  The Hindu organisations have accused the  police of  committing atrocities on a Bhajrangdal activist who was detained  on the pretext of enquiry into the case of attack on a youth at KC Road near Ullal recently.

Jagadish Shenava, VHP leader who spoke to press persons in the city on January 27, Monday  said Manoj Kumar, a Bhajrangdal activist was detained  and later  brutally assaulted in the station  by cops, who he said were drunk. Shenava even alleged that Manoj was given shock treatment.

He further stated that earlier Goraksha Convenor Pradeep Pumpwell was also taken by the police from his home in the dead of the night on January 24 and was released the next evening after Hindu outfits threatened protest.

Regarding the Manoj atrocities case, he said the Bhajrangdal and VHP will  organise a protest in front of DC office on February 23 if action did not follow against the police personnel responsible for assaulting him.
