High school girl ends life at Shaktinagar

 Mangalore, Nov 12, 2013 : A high school girl  hailing from Shaktinagar in Mangalore has reportedly ended her life by hanging herself in her house at Neetinagar on November 11, Monday.

The deceased is Pavitra, daughter of Sujatha and late Venugopal. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room on Monday evening. Pavitra was a ninth standard student of Nalyapadavu School at Shaktinagar.

According to sources, she had not  been attending classes at school since the past three days though she used to leave home for school. It is  learnt, she had  also not attended classes on Monday. After she returned in the evening, she had locked herself up in her room where she ended her life by hanging from the ceiling fan. When there was no response from inside for long, her elder brother who grew suspicious, dislodged the roof tile of her room only to find her hanging.

Kankanady Rural police have registered a case and the body has been sent for  a post mortem. The exact reason that drove her to the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Investigations are underway.
