Hidden camera row: MLA Yashpal Suvarna wants police to file suo moto case

Udupi, July 25, 2023: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna has urged the Police Department to register a suo moto case against the students who allegedly kept hidden cameras in the washroom of a private college.

 

Speaking to reporters on July 25, Tuesday, the MLA said the behaviour of the three students have brought disrepute to the district which is an educational hub. He suspected the role of unseen hands behind this act.

He said he would bring the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister and Home Minister seeking justice. He said he has full faith in the Police Department but warned of fight for justice if there was a delay in investigation.

“The act of the three Muslim girl students has given room for doubts. There is a suspicion of the hands of Jihadi organisations,” he said. He further added that he was not sure if there was a video clipping or not, but demanded suitable action.

On the allegation of harassment of Rashmi Samant who first tweeted about the alleged incident, the MLA said he would visit Rashmi’s house and speak to her.
