Hi-tension wire in school compound claims student’s life; 2 critical

Udupi, Sep 4, 2013 : In a tragic incident reported from Shringeri Holekoppa on September 3, Tuesday, one student lost his life due to electrocution while two others were hospitalized  after the  flag pole which they were carrying for installation came into contact with a hi-tension wire at the Holekoppa Government High School grounds, Shringeri.

The students were busy making arrangements for a rural sports meet scheduled to begin on Tuesday, when the tragedy struck. If Karthik Nallur(16), a class IX student  died on the spot, Ranjan Horanadu and Anil Holekoppa (16) were  admitted to KMC Hospital in a critical state.

The physical instructor of the school Keshava Murthi suffered a cardiac arrest on being a witness to the tragedy and had to be hospitalized. He is said to be out of danger.

State Minister for Youth Affairs and Fisheries Abhayachandra Jain who visited the hospital assured  that  the treatment costs  of  the injured would be borne by the government. He also promised to  shift all hi-tension lines passing through school compounds all over the state.
