Heavy rain: Holiday declared for schools, colleges in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Aug 28

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 28, 2025: Following a heavy rainfall forecast, the district administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have declared a holiday on Thursday, August 28, for all anganwadi centres, primary and high schools, government-aided and private institutions, as well as PU colleges. Additionally, ITI institutions in Udupi district will remain closed.

In Dakshina Kannada, the holiday applies to institutions across Mangaluru, Puttur, Mulki, Moodbidri, Ullal, Bantwal and Beltangady taluks. Parents have been advised to prevent children from visiting low-lying areas, lakes, seashores and riverbanks. Fishermen too have been warned against venturing into the sea.

Taluk-level officers have been instructed to remain at headquarters, while nodal officers have been directed to stay alert and promptly address public grievances. Tahsildars have been asked to maintain constant contact with the district administration.
