Mangalore, Nov 13, 2011: The Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike (HHV) will organize a protest against the proposed Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill of 2011 on Nov 23.

This bill, which might be passed during the parliament’s winter session, was termed by Vaman Shenoy, the RSS Sangh chalak, as a “draconian law” that goes against the interests of the majority Hindu population.

He told reporters that protests against this bill will be held in Udupi as well as DK, and on Nov 23, a rally will be held from Jyothi Circle to Nehru Maidan. Around 50,000 people are expected to participate.

Labelling the bill as a “political gimmick” on the part of the Congress party, which currently has a number of corruption charges against it, he said that it is meant to please minorities and retain their votes. He also stated that the bill is part of a conspiracy against Hindu organizations, which have been falsely accused of terrorist activities.

HHV President S. Ramesh, General Secretary Harish Achar, Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell, and VHP leader Jagadish Shenava were also present at the press conference.
