Mangalore, Oct 22, 2013 : Nine persons sustained injuries in a group clash reported from Mallur near Neermarga on October 21, Monday night. Sources said the clashes broke out after a few youth attempted to steal the bike of a person belonging to another community earlier in the day.
The incident took place when funeral ceremony was underway in the house of one Kunjanna and several who had arrived at the house had parked their vehicles outside. It is said some youth who arrived at the place tried to escape with an Apache bike owned by one Praveen. When some people around noticed, they questioned the youth resulting in a clash.
As a continuation, the youth reportedly entered Kunjanna’s house in the evening and attacked him and his family members and did not spare even the neighbours. The bike owner Praveen too was targeted. The injured namely Latha (21), Kunjanna (55), Charan (24), Sanket (21), Praveen (22), Umavati (31), Jayashree, Deepak and Prasad have been admitted to Wenlock Hospital.
Investigations are underway.
