Udupi, Oct 10, 2012:  Gowri V. Poojary of the BJP, a member of the Barkur TP, has been elected as the president of the Udupi Taluk Panchayat (TP). Rama Kulal of the BJP, a member of the Perdoor TP, has been elected as the deputy.

The two winning candidates defeated Dr. Suneetha Shetty and Umesh A. Naik of the Congress. The returning officer was Assistant Commissioner Sadashiv Prabhu.

Among those present were Manjunathaiah, EO of the Taluk Panchayat, and Uday Kumar Shetty, president of the district BJP.
