Mangaluru, May 07, 2021: Senior Congress leader and former minister B Ramanatha Rai has said that the government must first provide essentials to the poor before it embarks upon a total lockdown measure to contain Covid spread in the state.
Speaking to reporters here on May 7, Friday, he said the poor must get a package on the lines of Kerala and other states. He also suggested opening of ganji kendras in ever gram panchayat level.
He further urged for measures to provide accommodation to the attendants of Covid patients at Wenlock hospital.
Rai informed that the District Youth Congress lead by its President Luqman Bantwal is assisting people with an ambulance service equipped with oxygen facility and is also providing food packets to the needy.
Luqman Bantwal, Shashidhar Hegde, Naveen D’Souza, T K Sudhir and other party leaders were present.
