Govt moots Agriculture Prices Commission to help farmers

 Mangalore, Aug 17, 2013 : Bharath Lal Meena, District in-charge Secretary and Principal Secretary of Agriculture Department has informed that the State Government will constitute an Agriculture Prices Commission to fix a scientific price for the agricultural crops of farmers.

 

Participating in a meeting with farmers and stakeholders  under the aegis of Zilla Panchayat,Agriculture and Watershed Department and Apna Desh Association here on August 16, Friday, Meena said  the Commission  would also go a long way in preventing exploitation of farmers. He said the commission will undertake a study on agricultural crops to decide on eh scientific price.

He also informed that subsidies will be provided to farmers  to purchase mini tractors. One of the participants, a farmer from Belthangady suggested setting up of agricultural  park in every taluk  which can go a long way in encouraging youngsters towards agriculture.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Tulasi Maddineni,  Central Relief Committee Secretary Dr Raja Naik, MGNREGS Ombudsman Sheena Shetty and others were present.
