Mangaluru, June 4, 2025: BJP Dakshina Kannada president Satish Kumpala on Tuesday accused the State government of misusing the police “to mentally harass and lower the morale of Sangh Parivar activists by registering unnecessary cases against them.”

Speaking to the media after meeting City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy and Dakshina Kannada SP K. Arun, along with BJP MLAs and leaders over the issue of the police registering cases against some Sangh Parivar activists, he said that the delegation expressed displeasure over the police projecting those working for Hindu organisations as criminals.

The delegation took objection to the registration of an FIR against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for alleged hate speech, the move to extern some Hindu leaders by identifying them and the police visiting the houses of those who are working for Hindu organisations during night, Mr. Kumpala said.

“All these steps appear like an undeclared Emergency,” Mr. Kumpala said.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Mr. Kumpala alleged that the appeasement attitude of the Congress is costing others. The BJP condemns it, he said.

He said that the BJP will cooperate in maintaining peace if the police acted impartially. The BJP will launch an agitation if the government did not stop “misusing the government machinery to threaten and harass Hindu leaders”, he said.

The delegation that met the police officers along with Mr. Kumpala includes MLAs Y. Bharat Shetty, Umanath Kotian, Harish Poonja, Rajesh U. Naik, Bhagirathi Murulya and Kishore Kumar Puttur, MLC.

Some office bearers of the district unit of the BJP were also with the delegation.
