Goons attack ‘Madhyamam’ Manjeshwar reporter

Manjeshwar, Dec 5, 2012: A correspondent of Madhyamam News Paper  was brutally attacked by a gang of assailants who barged into his house on the night of December 4, Tuesday.  The injured journalist Anees  has been admitted to Manjeshwar government hospital.

 

Reports said the 15 member gang of assailants had also threatened to kill Anees. It is suspected that the  attack was an act of retaliation against the report  which Anees had published regarding the complaint lodged by Manjeshwar Sub-Inspector Bijulal with the District Superintendent of Police against a goonda squad which had threatened to kill him.

Meanwhile, Manjeshwar Police have registered a case and have launched a manhunt to nab the assailants.
It may be mentioned here that Anees has already earned the hatred of mafia elements and corrupt politicians through his several investigative reports. Once earlier, an attempt was also made to fix him in a false case by a group led by a Zilla Panchayat member, by placing ganja in his car.

Manjeshwar journalists stage protest :  A protest march has been taken out by journalists under the aegis of the Manjeshwar Press Club  at Hosangady town, condemning the attack on Madhyamam reporter. They have warned of severe agitation if the authorities failed to nab the culprits within the next 24 hours
