Mangaluru, Sep 06, 2016: In a great gesture of goodwill and communal harmony the priests of Infant Jesus Shrine at Bikarnakatte and the nuns of Kulshekhar Sacred Heart Convent visited Sanghaniketan on September 6, Tuesday and made offerings to the idol of Lord Ganesha which has been installed and worshipped there as part of the 69th Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava.
On this occasion sweets were also distributed on behalf of the Ganeshotsava Samithi to the visiting team members. The visiting team offered fruits and a Banaras silk saree to the Lord.
Fr Eliyas D’Souza, Director of Infant Jesus Shrie, Fr. Prakash D’Cunha, Deputy Director, Sister Florita of Sacred Heart Convent, Sr. Dionisa, Sr Gladys and others were present.
V Nagraj, Kshetriya Sangha Chalak of RSS, Guruprsad, Prantha Pracharak, Sunil Acharya, Mangaluru city Sara Sangha Chalak, Mangaluru City Pracharak Pramukh Ganesh Prasad and others were present .
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Prakash D’Cunha said their visit followed an invitation extended to them by Hindu brethren. Such acts will foster brotherhood and harmony, he added.
V Nagaraj, RSS leader who spoke said a Raksha Bandhan programme was also organised at the Infant Jesus Shrine a few days ago in order to promote harmony. Now the visit of the Christian priest and sisters to the Ganeshotsava celebration is a matter of great joy, he observed.
Ganeshotsava celebrations commence at Sanghaniketan
Mangaluru : The 69th Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava celebrations at Sanghaniketan in Mangaluru commenced on September 5, Monday. K Lakshminarayana, Group General Manager of MRPL inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp.
Various programmes including Maha Pooja, Hari Nama Sankeertana, Mooda Ganapathi Seve and Ranga Pooja were held.
Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions at a function held in connection with the celebration. Ganeshotsava Samithi President Praveen Kumar, Raghuveer Kamath, Capt. Brijesh Chowta and others were present.
