Goods lorry overturns after crashing into house compound in Bantwal

Bantwal, May 29, 2026: A goods lorry carrying interlock blocks overturned after crashing into the compound wall of a house at Koppala in Tenkabellur village of Bantwal taluk late on Thursday night.

The accident occurred on the BC Road–Polali road when the lorry, which was travelling from the BC Road side, lost control and rammed into the compound of Jeffrey Fernandes’ house before overturning.

The interlock cement blocks loaded in the vehicle fell onto the roof and courtyard of the house, causing extensive damage. The compound wall, iron gate, windows, doors, light pole, wooden roof rafters, tiles, DTH antenna, water pipeline and kitchen sheet were damaged in the mishap.

According to the complaint, the total loss has been estimated at around Rs 2.5 lakh.

The lorry was also damaged in the accident, while the driver escaped with minor injuries.

A case has been registered at the traffic police station.
